Victor Olaiya was was born on 31st of December 1930 in Cross River State, he was the 20th position child. His father was a very affluent and rich man. Olaiya spent most of his childhood days at Lagos island. at a very young age, he started learning how to play musical instruments, he started with the bombardon. He studied Civil Engineering at howard university and after that, he pursued his musical career afterwards agains the advice of his parents.he started by playing with the Sammy Akpabot Band, he later moved on to be the leader and lead trumpeter for the Old Lagos City Orchestra, he then moved to join the Bobby Benson Jam Session Orchestra. He later formed his own band in 1954 and named it the Cool Cats. His band specializes in playing popular highlife songs. During the visit of Queen Elizabeth 2 in Nigeria, he and his band were selected to play at the event. His band was also selected to play during Nigeria independence in 1960. In 1963, Victor olaiya renamed his band to the ALL STARS BAND.
During his lifetime, Victor olaiya married so many wives and gave birth to a lot of kids. He died in 2020 and was survived by children and grand kids.
